BUMETANIDE IN AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER

Objectives: This study aimed to make a bibliographic update on the already published data bumetanide, addressing main information its use in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Methods: was an integrative narrative review which following databases were used: Web of Science, MEDLINE, ScienceDirect, and Scielo. The descriptors used were: Disorder, Autistic Bumetanide. It considered only articles English French. Original articles, randomized clinical trials, case reports, included. Results: results show that bumetanide alters regions brain linked positive development language, improvement visual contact, social interactions, among others. Studies are also concerned about safety efficacy ASD since several adverse effects have been reported. most frequent hypokalemia, polyuria, loss appetite. Conclusion: Bumetanide has proven as effective improving some important symptoms ASD, especially language interaction, however, studies with larger groups patients longer treatment observation time needed confirm clarify profile for people ASD.
